StoryToon Wins 2nd Place at Imaguru Hackathon, Securing Spot at Web Summit Lisbon!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that StoryToon has won 2nd place at the highly competitive Imaguru Hackathon in Warsaw! This incredible achievement is a testament to our team’s resilience, creativity, and agile thinking. The prize? Tickets to the world-renowned Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal!
The hackathon was a unique experience for our distributed team. Our CEO, Maksim Masalski, represented StoryToon on the ground in Warsaw, while the rest of our talented team collaborated remotely from Gdansk, proving that great things can be built no matter the distance.
The Hackathon Pivot: From Complex App to Simple MVP
Our initial goal for the hackathon was ambitious: to build out a functional prototype of our mobile app. However, a pivotal moment came during a mentor session. We were challenged to rethink our approach and consider how we could validate our core idea more quickly and efficiently.
This led to a strategic pivot. We decided to shift our focus from a full-fledged mobile app to a much simpler, yet powerful, Minimum Viable Product (MVP). By leveraging a Telegram bot and QR codes, we could demonstrate the magic of StoryToon’s personalized storytelling without the overhead of app development. This decision allowed us to focus on the core user experience and prove that our concept resonated with users.
We successfully achieved our goal, and our lean approach impressed the judges. It was a powerful lesson in staying agile and focusing on what truly matters: validating the idea.
